Our
on-line survey is now closed.
Thank you for your interest and for taking part.
If you've come here following an article
in Manx Tails - we're sorry, but the survey has closed. Unfortunately the article appeared in the
wrong issue of the magazine.
You may be interested to know
that the survey was open for more than two months and was advertised
widely through Isle of Man Newspapers, as well as through Island-wide
posters, and leaflets in Castletown itself.
Consultation meetings have
also taken place with local youth groups, local residents, and local
traders.
There will further
opportunities to contribute. In
particular there will be a public exhibition in the week commencing
26th July, where we'll be asking for feedback on our work so far. The
exhibition will be held in the Civic Centre in Castletown. Exact times
and dates will be detailed in the press.
Castletown
regeneration on-line survey
Port St Mary-based Costain
Heritage and Douglas-based APA Architects
have been commissioned by the Castletown Regeneration Committee to
investigate ways to improve Castletown as a place to live, work and
visit.
The on-line survey was the
first stage of a summer-long project that will
result in a bid to the Town and Village Regeneration Fund in 2011.
The work included consideration of Castletown as a tourist
destination, car parking issues, pedestrian and disability access,
quality of signage and information, as well as possible improvements to
the square, the parade, and south harbour side.
The project aims to get more local residents and visitors to go to
Castletown regularly. It also aims to improve the success of
Castletown's economy.
